Covers: Songs from Friends

 These songs were written by friends of Mark’s, all of whom played with him from time to time. The songwriting is extraordinary. Most of these tunes were penned in the late 1970s and early 1980s.

This song is called “Tell Me Jesus”, and was written by Barry Martin from El Paso. This recording was made in Mark’s garage in 2020, using the Taylor 814ce. Mark used this song in coffeehouse sets constantly through the decades.

John Cornelius was (is) a Worship Leader in Arizona. He wrote very many heart-felt tunes, in addition to songs that were just plain fun. Mark used this “bang” song, called “I Find Myself Rejoicing (Yay God!)” as his set opener for years. This recording was made in the Garage during the Covid 19 Pandemic in 2020.

This song was written by Michael VanArsdale in the early 1970s. Michael, whom his friends lovingly called Vandy, is still a very active performer and musician in California. He is the leader of an alternative Country band called “Michael Van and the Movers”. This early “Vandy” song was recorded in Mark’s Garage in 2020, using the 814ce. Marks utilizes a Drop D tuning in this recording.

This song was written by John Cornelius, called “Thank You Lord”. Mark recorded it circa 2017 in his bedroom, using his Taylor 110e dreadnaught.

John Cornelius wrote two songs that Mark combined into a medly that ended up being his most requested Coffee House/Prayer Meeting song. This recording of “Pick Me Up” was made circa 2015 using Mark’s Gibson Hummingbird Pro. Mark states that he loves the simplicity of the lyrics and how they present the Gospel.
