Mark Stone, one of Irish Music's most renowned players of the bodhran
has performed
and taught with many of today's top Irish musicians across the United
States
and in Canada. On this CD, Mark has recorded the basic rudiments of
Irish dance
music, along with some of his favorite traditional songs and selected
performances.
This CD will serve as a tutorial guide that establishes the basic
rudiments of
Irish dance music; students of the bodhran can listen, learn and play
along with
Mark. To fully appreciate how these rhythms fit the Irish musical
style, students
must understand how they fit into the actual dances performed. That
knowledge
is invaluable to a serious study of the bodhran.

friends, Jerry
Holland of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia, has been diagnosed with kidney and
bone cancer. Since music is Jerry's sole source of income, this setback
has cost him dearly in medical bills and loss of income. Jerry was kind

Coming
this fall...
|
Mark is currently
putting the final touches on his pre-production notes for the
long-awaited follow up to his successful instructional CD, The
Bodhrán. The second
recording will concentrate on more intermediate to "advanced" tonal and
rhythm exercises, as well as the usual sprinkling of performance
tracks....and of course, it wouldn't be a Mark Stone production without
a little "Easter Egg" buried somewhere. The plan for this one will
really surprise you... [wink]
The Bodhrán II will be an
"enhanced" CD in that you will be able to pop it into your computer and
print out the notes and rhythms or sit at your computer and play along
while reading them.
